Academic Council

Somali National University’s (SNU) Academic Council serves as the university’s primary governing body related to academics and has a variety of responsibilities, including oversight of all academic matters related to the university, maintenance of academic standards, promotion of research and innovation, and assurance of successful implementation of academic policies and programs throughout the institution.

Role of the Academic Council

The Academic Council plays a critical role in strengthening the quality and effectiveness of higher education at SNU. Its key responsibilities include:

  2. Ensuring quality assurance in teaching, learning, and research.
  3. Supervising curriculum development and academic programs.
  4. Promoting research, innovation, and postgraduate studies.
  5. Supporting academic staff development and professional excellence.
  6. Enhancing collaboration between faculties, research centers, and external institutions.
  7. Advancing the University’s mission of academic excellence and national development.

Through its Academic Council and specialized committees, SNU continues to foster a culture of scholarship, innovation, and institutional excellence.
