Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution (CPCR)
A university-based institute established by Somali National University to research the root causes of conflict, train local peacebuilders, and advance sustainable peace across Somalia and the Horn of Africa.
Established in 2026 under the Faculty of Social Science, the CPCR is SNU’s dedicated institute for tackling Somalia’s deep-rooted conflicts through rigorous research and practical peacebuilding. It advances sustainable peace through four integrated focus areas conflict transformation, research and policy, capacity building, and specialized training serving as a national resource center for developing workable peace and conflict-sensitive development.
Housed within the Faculty of Social Science, the CPCR bridges academia and practice, local knowledge and global frameworks making its research, training, mediation support, and library accessible to communities, government, and regional partners.
The center analyzes the dynamics of armed conflict, political instability, and human rights issues, then translates its findings into practical, evidence-based recommendations that directly inform national and regional peace policy.
