Introduction:
The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research Somali National University (SNU) was officially launched in 1985 but unfortunately disappeared after the collapse of the Somali state in 1991. It has been re-established in 2020 to specifically address the needs of the present and prospective research goals and to support the graduate population. This is due to an increasing interest of the SNU in providing significant research output and strengthening research impacts in the community, as well as supporting current and prospective graduate students for designated services.
Mission:
The mission of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is to support the overall mission of SNU at the graduate level. The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research promotes and support academic excellence in the graduate education provided by SNU and it makes significant contributions to students’ professional and intellectual growth by providing a challenging and supportive environment that integrates advanced study and research. It is also committed to providing exceptional resources and opportunities in scientific research to promote innovation, professional development, applied learning, and the betterment of society.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research of SNU strives to be recognized as the national primary resource for graduate education, research contribution, and academic services. The Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research endeavors to foster the graduate students to prosper both intellectually and professionally, as well as envision, advance, pursue and accomplish professional research goals and innovative and ethical scholarly engagement. It aspires to be a considered and respected global leader in best practices for research and graduate education. It collaborates with all SNU faculties which provide graduate programs, graduate students, administrators, and the community to collectively promote and support the success and development of the graduate population.
