Formerly Lafoole College (est. 1963), it trains teachers through five undergraduate programs blending academic knowledge with practical.
Faculty of Medicine and Surgery
Founded in 1972, a landmark in Somali medical education, producing qualified professionals to serve the community's health needs.
Faculty of Languages
Established in 1981, it offers Arabic, English and Somali, building bridges between Somali culture and the world's languages and civilizations.
Faculty of Sharia & Islamic Studies
Established in 1978, Somalia's oldest faculty for Islamic Sharia sciences, Arabic language and literature, preparing scholars and educators.
Faculty of Social Sciences
Established in 2020, a leading hub for journalism, political science, sociology and social work, fostering critical thinking and ethical values.
Faculty of Engineering
Established in 1974, it offers Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Architectural Engineering, producing innovative, ethical responsible engineers.
Faculty of Law
Rooted in the 1954 Institute of Law, it integrates theory and practice to develop competent, responsible legal professionals for Somalia.

The Faculty of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences is one of the oldest and most important faculties of Somali National University.
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry
Established in 1973, it offers Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry, serving Somalia's vital livestock and rural community sectors.
